Can I make cash donations on the site?
There is no rule against listing monetary donations as a donation on the DonateNZ website, however, we remind you that we have no part in the exchange of goods or time between our members.
I'm only making one donation, Why do I have to make an account?
Creation of an account with DonateNZ ensures that your donation is allocated to the organisation which you would like it to go, as well as enabling you to receive feedback and notifications from the site. Making the account only takes two seconds, but will save you heaps of time in the long run!
Does it cost to donate goods or time?
Donating goods or time through DonateNZ is absolutely free.
Has my listing been made active on the site?
When you list a donation, you will receive a confirmation page and the listing will go immediately on to the site. If you have not received this page, please ensure you have filled all fields with an *- Error messages show in red at the top of the page.
Does it cost the Recipient money every time they accept a donation?
No. Recipients pay a small annual membership fee which allows them Recipient access and it is then free for them to accept any donation throughout that year.
I want to donate a computer, but want to remove all my personal information and data first. How can I do that?
If you do not want to pay for a visit to the computer specialist, there are ways to do this yourself. Ensure you have everything you want backed up to a location outside of the computer before embarking on the wipe process. Visit the link here to download a simple wiping file with instructions.
Why do you charge people to be Recipients?
Recipients membership fees allow us to provide this fantastic site, stationery, as well as work on short and long term strategies to secure more donations for them. We aim to make their membership fee outweighed 10-fold by the donations they receive but without charging this site simply would not be possible.
Can I donate computers?
Yes, you can donate computers on DonateNZ. However, please describe the condition, software and hardware of these as much as possible to ensure the Recipient the correct machine to fit them.
Who are the Recipients?
All registered Schools, Early Childhood Centres and Not-For-Profit Organisations within New Zealand.
Why can't I receive stuff?
Recipient members are offered donations as they are the deemed as the groups in our community most "in need" and able to benefit the greatest from NZ'ers assistance.
Can I donate to a specific organisation rather than to all?
Yes. DonateNZ has the facility for you to choose where your donation is going by specific organisation. From there, those who fall within your criteria have the opportunity to view and accept the donation for the first 2 weeks and after this it becomes available to the general Recipient list.
How does my donation get to them?
When creating a donation on the site you set how you would like to make the donation and then parties who fit your criteria are able to accept. Once accepted by a recipient, the site send each other reciprocal contact details and then you are free to arrange pick up or drop off.
